Nothing gets none, the political process is gridlocked. Unemployment continues to rise and GNP continues slowing down.<br /><br />October, 2011: Oil hits $100 a barrel. <br /><br />November, 2011: The economy double dips into recession spreading the plague of fear and loathing.<br /><br />December 2011: Unemployment reaches critical mass.<br /><br />Jan 2012: Food riots spread across America--feed us!<br /><br />February, 2012: Millions march on Washington D.C. An ugly and angry mob gathers around the White House. In response the National Guard rolls out its tanks and sets up a perimeter. After a tense moment the tanks turrets swing and take aim at the President. Stunned, the anger subsides and the crowd is ordered to disperse, go home, an emergency alert is on its way. The military coup of 2012 has begun<br /><br />People rush home. Turn on their TV’s; and wait. Finally, at 6 p.m. EST; the wait is over.<br /><br />My fellow Americas, I am General Al Brothers, Chairman Joints Chief of Staff. Rumor has it that I’m better known as “Big Brother.” Let me assure that is not the case. I’ve assumed command because the President has failed in his duties to lead the nation.<br /><br />He is not alone in this. The press has failed as a watchdog. They failed by not questioning his lack of objectivity. They did not challenge him, in the face of failed economic polices, where are the contingency plans, where is the agenda that gets America back on its feet. Where is the mention of peak oil. Where is the will? <br /><br />Throughout the years our leadership has brought us to the brink and in doing so has brought communist China to the edge of world domination. My friends, we will not go quietly into the night.<br /><br />Let me assure you, while there are those who sat meekly on the yellow brick road waiting for the Wizard to come them, we, the military, by definition, have the heart, courage, and intelligence to lead this Nation in time of great peril.<br /><br />Yet, we are vulnerable at this time. Tempting our enemies to disrupt our economy with cyber attacks, neutralize our military communications, all of which can be followed with a nuclear strike. I have taken the arm forces to DEFCON 1 code name Cocked Pistol. I have given carte blanche to…<br /><br />It’s the middle of night. I roll over, look at the clock: 3: 00 A.M; can’t sleep. My greatest fear, that I’m living in Room 101, gnaws on me. And again I ponder a fate that lurks: a world divided into nuclear fortresses, battling for resources, fighting proxy wars, all the while waiting for the opportunity, to destroy its rivals. <br /><br />I think: Is that so bad? Food riots could turn into a food fight; <em>a war of all against all</em>. If so, those that were smart enough to buy bullets instead of gold should be smart enough to save one for themselves.<br /><br />Enough of the dark side; I turn on my computer and go to work.
